The only requirement to start creating content on sewasew is a simple registration process which can be done via existing social media accounts or using any of your email addresses. Use the following steps to register on sewasew.

  • Register using your email

  • Click on the "Register" button on the action bar. It will open a menu as shown below
  • Click on the "Using email" link and you will be taken to the registration page as shown below
  • Fill in the values for "Screen name", "Email" and "Password" and click on "Register" button
  • On successful registration, an email will be sent to your address. Check your email and click on the link in the message to verify your email.
  • Once you verify your email, you can then login to sewasew using your email and password.

  • Register using facebook or linkedin

  • Click on the "Register" button on the action bar. It will open a menu as shown below
  • Click on either "Using Facebook" or "Using Linkedin" link and you will be taken to the registration page as shown below
  • Click on either "Using Facebook" or "Using Linkedin" if you want to register using facebook or linkedin respectively
  • You will be taken to either facebook or linkedin pages. Review and allow requested permissions to sewasew.
  • A new user will be automatically created on Sewasew and you will be automatically signed in.
  • An email will also be sent to you with a random password if you want to login using email and password as well.

We provide different ways to get you into sewasew so that you can create content or encourage others by way of giving feedbacks to users of the platform. Use the following methods to do so.

  • Login using your email

  • Click on the "Log in" button on the menu bar as shown below.
  • The above action pops up a login form containing the below elements.
  • Fill in the values for "Email" and "Password" and click on the "Sign in" button
  • Login errors are displayed at the top of the form if there are any. Otherwise, you will be logged in and taken to your home page.

  • Log in using facebook or linkedin

  • Click on the "Log in" button on the menu bar as shown below.
  • The above action pops up a login form containing the below elements.
  • Click on either "Using facebook" or "Using linkedin" based on your preferences.
  • You will be authenticated by the selected platforms and you will be taken to your home page on sewasew afterwards.

Sewasew is a multi-language platform which lets users create or search content in different languages easily. Use the following steps to create or search content in different languages.

  • Every component which supports multiple languages has the following typing language selector.
  • Click on it to select a different typing language than the one selected and you will see the list of languages supported to date.
  • Select the language you would like to type in. This will enable you to type content in the selected language.
  • Note: For አማርኛ, ግዕዝ and ትግርኛ languages, the tool uses transliteration. Type the phrase as you type it in English and the tool suggests possible phrases in the selected languages. Also, you can hover over the "hint" text to learn more on how to type individual characters in these languages.

Topics in sewasew are short and descriptive texts which are used as a title for a post. topics can be formed in the form of questions or phrases which are catchy in nature. topics are written in a specific language and are added to a given category. Use the following steps to create topics in sewasew.

  • Click on the "Create a topic" button as shown below.
  • Your action will open the topic editor form as shown below.
  • Sewasew allows you to associate a given topic with a given language. This is important if, for example, you are creating a dictionary item in one language and want to give the explanation in another language. In this case, you can change the default language to any language of your choice. To do so, click on the "Change" link as shown below.
  • Sewasew contains hundreds of language names in its database. Start typing the language you want to associate this topic with and select it from the suggestion as shown below.
  • Type in your topic content inside the big text box. Use the typing language picker to switch between typing languages.
  • It is always a good idea to categorize topics properly. Click on the "Add tags" link as shown below.
  • Your action will open the below form. Start typing your tag names and select from the list of suggested categories/tags.
  • If you want to also create explanation for the topic you are about to create , you can do so as well. Click on the "Add explanation" link as shown below.
  • Your above action opens explanation editor form. Select target language for the explanation as you did for the topic above, and then type in your explanation content inside the text box.
  • Click on the "Add topic" button as shown below and this will create the topic. If you didn't add explanation for the topic you just created, you will find the topic under the "Open topics" page. Otherwise, you will find it under your "Home" page.

Topics are to the title and explanations are to the body of posts. Explanations are marked as being given in a specific language and are related to an existing topic. Use the following steps to properly create explanations for a given topic in different languages.

  • Find the topic for which you would like to add and explanation.
  • Once you have the topic, click on the "Explanation" link at the bottom of the explanation as shown below.
  • Your above action opens the explanation editor form as shown below.
  • Explanations are associated with a specific language. Please follow the steps listed under How to create topics... to change target language for an explanation.
  • Use the tool bar buttons to properly format your explanation and also add images to the explanation as needed.
  • Once you're done composing your explanation click on the "Add explanation" button as shown below.
  • Clicking on the "Add explanation" button creates the explanation and updates the view accordingly.

Comments in sewasew are one way of giving feedback to users as well as enriching explanations and topics in short and concise ways. You can have as many comments as you wish on both topics as well as explanations. Use the following steps to add comments on topics as well as explanations.

  • Locate the topic or explanation for which you would like to add a comment.
  • Once you have located the topic or explanation, click on the "Comment" link as shown below.
  • This will open the comment editor form as shown below.
  • Add you comment in the text box. Use the language picker component to select different typing languages/methods from the list.
  • Once you're done composing your comment, click on the "Add comment" button as shown below.
  • Clicking on the "Add comment" button creates the comment for the related topic or explanation and updates the view accordingly.

As a user, you can modify or delete topics, explanations or comments you own in sewasew. This features comes in handy when you need to modify any content or want to get rid of it as a result of duplication or irrelevance. Use the following steps to do so.

  • Locate the post you would like to modify or delete. Go to your profile page and click on topics/explanations/comments to get to content you own.
  • Look for action links at the far right end of the post you would like to modify/delete as shown below.
  • To modify your post, click on the "Edit" link. It will open the correct post editor. Modify your content as you wish and click on "Update content" button when you are done.
  • To delete your post altogether, click on the "Delete" link and confirm your actions using the Yes/No buttons as shown below. Clicking on Yes will delete the post and update the view accordingly.

The easiest topics to be discovered by users are those which are properly tagged. Tagging or categorizing topics properly helps users to find interesting topics easily. Tagging also helps the platform to better suggest topics to users based on their preferences. Use the following steps to properly tag topics.

  • Locate the topic you would like to tag. You can only tag topics in sewasew.
  • Once you have the target topic located, click on the "Tags" link as shown below.
  • Clicking on the "Tags" link opens the category/tag picker component as shown below. start typing the tag name and select the right tag from the suggested list.
  • Add as many tags as you like and click on the "Add tags" button as shown below. This will properly categorize the topic and updates the view accordingly.
  • Please Note: You cannot delete a tag once created. Make sure you have the right list of tags before hitting the "Add tags" button as a result.

Do you think an explanation for a given topic is of poor quality or erratic and that you know a person who is an authority in the subject who can give the best explanation to the topic? Sewasew provides a feature to challenge or ask the experts for an explanation. Use the following steps to do so.

  • Locate the topic you would like to get better explanation for. You can only challenge experts on topics.
  • Click on the "Challenge others" link as shown below.
  • Clicking on the "Challenge others" link opens the form where you can send requests to explain a topic as shown below.
  • In the first text box, enter an optional short blurb message to send along with the request to the target expert.
  • In the second text box, start typing the names of the people if they're registered on sewasew and select from the suggested list. Or enter email addresses of people you would like to send the request to.
  • Once you're done with adding short message and selecting experts, you can then click on the "Challenge them" button to finally send the request.
  • This will send an email to the selected people requesting them to explain a topic on sewasew.

Do you know resourceful people who can give back something to sewasew community? Or do you know a person who can benefit a lot from reading topics on sewasew? If so, why wait? You can invite them easily using the following steps!

  • Click on the "Invite others to join" button from the tool bar as shown below.
  • Your above action opens the invitation editor form as shown below.
  • In the first text box, enter a short message you would like to send along with the invitation email to the selected email addresses.
  • In the second text box, enter the list of email addresses separated by comma. You can enter as many email addresses as you wish in this area.
  • Once you have your message and email addresses filled out, click on the "Send invitation" button as shown below.
  • This will send invitation email to join sewasew to the selected addresses and updates the view accordingly.

People naturally get encouraged to do what they do when they know that others are benefiting from their work. You can give feedback to sewasew users by way of thanking them and liking their posts. If content is inappropriate, you can also let the moderators know about it via reporting the post. Use the following methods to do so.

  • Apart from comments, feedbacks can be given using three methods as shown below in the picture.
  • Click on "Thank" to send a personal thank you message to the user who contributed that specific post.
  • Click on "Like" to like a specific post. You can undo this by clicking this link again.
  • Click on "Offensive" to report a specific post as offending. This will let the moderators know about it and take corrective actions. You can undo this action by clicking this link again.

Great things are meant to be shared with the world and sewasew posts are not different. You can share posts in to users of sewasew or your friends on other social media platforms. Use the next steps to do so.

  • Locate the post you would like to share with others.
  • Click on the "Share" link and it will open two type of sharing options in sewasews as shown below.
  • If you like to share the post with your sewasew network or individual emails, click on "With Sewasew" link and it will open a form which allows you to share posts as shown below.
  • Enter an optional short message to send along with the email in the first text box. And enter the list of sewasew user names or individual email address in the second text box. Note: Use the language picker component to switch between typing languages.
  • When you are done with adding a personal message as well as selecting names/email addresses, click on the "Share post" button as shown below.
  • This will send an email to the selected users and email addresses and updates the view.
  • Note: If you would like to share the post with your facebook network, click on the "With Facebook" link and follow the form provided by facebook.

Sewasew categories are ways we use to group related posts together for easy discovery and navigation. You can use the followings steps to comb through topics in different categories.

  • There are two ways to filter topics by categories or tags. THe first option is to click on the "Categories" menu as shown below.
  • This will open the categories listing page -- sample categories are shown below.
  • Click on any of the categories and it will open the list of topics in that category. You can then navigate through these topics using the paging controls.
  • The second option to filter topics by category is to click on any of the categories from article details page as shown below.
  • This will open the list of topics in that category and allows you to navigate through these topics using the paging controls.

Sewasew is a platform supporting multiple languages to curate as well as search topics of different sort. topics as well as explanations can be tagged as being authored using a specific language. You can filter topics and explanations based on the type of language they are originally created. Use the following steps to filter topics using languages.

  • The language in which topics and explanations are written is shown below the user who authored topics or explanations as shown below.
  • Click on the language name. This allows you to list and navigate through topics as well as explanations authored in the selected language.

As a platform containing content in various languages, sewasew provides a comprehensive cross language content search mechanism which empowers users to locate content in different languages. Use the steps below to search content across different languages.

  • Type the text you would like to search in the search area as shown below in a language of your preference. Note: You can use the language picker component to select your preferred typing method.
  • Click on the search icon or press ENTER key to start searching content across multiple languages.
  • Matched search results are returned to you categorized by their type as shown below. Please note: Sewasew enables you to search content across different languages and the results are ordered based on their popularity.
  • Use the different tabs to navigate through the search result categories and select specific items from the list. Use the "Load more" button to load more search results for each category as shown below.

Want to know someone's contribution in sewasew? Or who he is following or who follows him? You can be kept in the know, by following the next steps.

  • Use links on user's profile image or name to see brief details of a specific user as shown below.
  • Click on either the image or the name to see details and it will open a window showing a summarized information about the selected user as shown below.
  • Click on the "View profile" button to learn more about the selected user and all of his/her networks as well as activities on sewasew.

Sewasew provides ways to customize your profile in a quest to give you the best site wide experience. You can do a lot of things -- all the way from describing yourself better to setting your topic preferences. Use the following methods to properly customize your profile.

  • In order to access your profile settings page, click on the link bearing your user name at the top right corner of the menus as shown below.
  • Clicking on the above link pops up a list of action items... one of them enables you to open the settings page as shown below.
  • Click on the "My Account" link to open account settings page.

  • Change profile image

  • Click on the "Change profile image" button as shown below
  • Clicking on this button gives you options to start the process of changing your profile image. Click on the "Choose image" button to select profile image from your computer as shown below.
  • Once you have selected a file to use as your profile image, click on the "Upload image" button as shown below.
  • If you have selected the correct file type and size, your image starts to upload and when it finishes uploading, you will be allowed to crop parts of the selected image to use as your profile image as shown below.
  • Use the crop tool to select parts of the image you would like to use and then click on the "Crop" button to finally update your profile image. If this succeeds, your profile image will be updated immediately in all places.

  • Change basic information

  • Click on the "Basic settings" link to start changing your basic profile information as shown below.
  • This will expand the basic profile settings editor form as shown below. Here you can change your screen name, and short description about your self which is shown next to your profile everywhere in sewasew.
  • Click on the appropriate "Edit" link to open the settings editor form as shown below.
  • Change it to your linking and click on the "Update" button. If there are no errors, this will update your specific information and the changes will be immediately applied.

  • Change topic preferences

  • Click on the "Preferences" link to start changing your language as well as category preferences as shown below.
  • This will expand your language and category preferences editor form as shown below.
  • Click on the appropriate "Edit" link to open the preferences editor form as shown below.
  • Add or remove as many languages and categories as you wish and click on the "Update" button. If there are no errors, this will update your preferences information and your site wide experience will immediately be tuned based on your new preferences.
  • Note that: Both the category and language editors use existing data... start typing your preference and select from the suggested list.

Not all topics are created equal :) Some users create great topics which make you want to know the next time these users create topics. We provide a way to keep you in the know via letting you follow users. Use the following steps to follow users in sewasew.

  • Locate the user you would like to follow. And use links on user's profile image or name to see brief details of a specific user as shown below.
  • Click on either the image or the name to see details and it will open a window showing a summarized information about the selected user as shown below.
  • Click on the "Start following" button to start following the user and see his/her activities afterwards.
  • Please note: If you would like to not follow a user anymore for any reason, follow the steps above and click on the "Stop following" button as shown below.
  • This will un-friend you and you won't be seeing this user's activities any more.

Whether you have registered on sewasew via social media platforms or using the standard email based registration mechanism we provide, you own a password. You can always change your password using the following steps.

  • Click on the link bearing your user name at the top right corner of the menus as shown below.
  • Clicking on the above link pops up a list of action items... one of them enables you to open the change password form as shown below.
  • Click on the "Change password" link to start changing your password. This will open the password changer form as shown below.
  • Type your old password, new password and confirmation password in the first, second and third text boxes respectively. Click on the "Change password" button to set the new password. If there are no errors, your password will be changed and all your existing sessions will be invalidated.

Whether you finished your daily activity on sewasew or you were using a shared computer and you feel the need to logout of sewasew, you can follow the next steps to do so.

  • Click on the link bearing your user name at the top right corner of the menus as shown below.
  • Clicking on the above link pops up a list of action items... one of them enables you to logout of sewasew as shown below.
  • Click on the "Log out" link and you will be logged out of sewasew completely.

Passwords are easily forgettable by nature and if you happen to forget yours, you can always reset it to a new password using the following steps.

  • Click on the "Log in" button on the menu bar as shown below.
  • The above action pops up a login form containing the below elements.
  • Click on the "Lost password?" link to start the process of retrieving your password. Clicking on this link opens the password retriever form as shown below.
  • Enter your email address in the text box and click on the "Reset password" button. If we have your password in our system, you will receive an email containing steps to reset your password.
